Translation: This is an English translation of the German page PhrasePro-Daten löschen. The German version is authoritative.

No PhrasePro account: PhrasePro has no user account, and Curiovo does not operate a server on which your learning data is stored. For this reason, Curiovo cannot delete your data remotely. The following steps show how you can clear each storage area yourself.

01 Overview

02 Reset learning progress

  1. Open PhrasePro.
  2. Open Settings → Audio & Pronunciation.
  3. In the “Data” section, select the “Reset Progress” option and confirm.

Limited scope: This step deletes, for all phrases, the learning status (learned, learning stage), your favorites and the review schedule with the history of your ratings; in version 3.2.46, the review schedule is retained. The progress in the Learning Path, the answer statistics, XP, level, streaks, settings, your privacy choices, the Premium status and a Google Drive backup are retained. To delete all learning data together, proceed as described in section 03. The reset cannot be undone.

03 Delete all local app data

If you previously created a Google Drive backup, delete it first (section 04). After the app data has been deleted, the “Backup & Sync” entry is missing from PhrasePro; then the only remaining way is via Google Drive on the web.

In Android, open Settings → Apps → PhrasePro → Storage (or “Storage & cache”) → “Clear storage” or “Clear data”. The labels may differ depending on the manufacturer.

Alternatively, you can uninstall PhrasePro. In this case, too, Android removes all app data from the device.

Android backup: If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android can back up PhrasePro's app data to your Google Account and restore it when the app is reinstalled. You can manage and delete this backup in the Android settings under “Google” or “System” → “Backup”, or in your Google Account. Curiovo has no access to it.

04 Delete the Google Drive backup

The Google Drive backup is hidden as of version 3.3.1. You cannot create new backups. To delete an existing backup, PhrasePro signs in with your Google Account if necessary (access to the app-specific area only). This section only applies to you if you connected Google Drive in an earlier version. In version 3.2.46, which Google Play distributed until 2 October 2026, the backup is still active; there you can also turn off auto-backup.

For this, PhrasePro uses the hidden, app-specific area of your Google Drive. There is therefore no visible “PhrasePro” folder in “My Drive”.

In PhrasePro

The “Backup & Sync” entry only appears if PhrasePro finds traces of earlier use on this device. After the app data has been deleted or after a reinstallation, it is missing; in that case, use Google Drive on the web.

  1. Open Settings → Backup & Sync.
  2. If a Google Account is shown under “Connected as”, check whether it is the account with the backup. If none is connected, PhrasePro asks for the Google Account when deleting.
  3. Select “Delete Backup” and confirm.
  4. Then select “Disconnect” (next to “Connected as”) if PhrasePro should no longer be signed in. “Disconnect” signs PhrasePro out of your Google Account and deletes the account data stored in the app. The permission granted remains in your Google Account until you revoke it as described below.

Via Google Drive on the web

  1. Open the Google Drive settings.
  2. Go to “Manage apps”.
  3. For PhrasePro, select “Delete hidden app data”.

Google may change labels and menu paths.

Revoke access

Under Google Account → Third-party apps & services, you can revoke PhrasePro's access. This ends future access but does not delete any backup file that has already been stored. Therefore, delete the backup beforehand.

05 Privacy choices, advertising and advertising ID

In PhrasePro, open Settings → Manage Privacy. There you can:

  • You can use “Google ad privacy choices” to change your choices with Google. The button appears if Google provides privacy options for your region. It does not exist in version 3.2.46; there, use “Reset Consent Preferences”.
  • You can use “Reset Consent Preferences” to reset the choices stored with Google on the device. Where this is provided for, Google then asks again the next time the app starts.

You can reset or delete the advertising ID in the Android settings, usually under “Google” or “Privacy” → “Ads”. You can manage your advertising settings at Google in Google's “My Ad Center”.

Resetting in PhrasePro does not delete any data that Google has already processed under its own responsibility. For that, use Data & privacy in your Google Account.

With Premium, PhrasePro shows no ads, requests none and does not call up Google's consent request on its own initiative.

06 Premium status and Google Play purchase

Deleting the app data removes the locally stored Premium status. The proof of purchase remains in your Google Account. The next time the app starts, PhrasePro reconciles your purchases with Google Play and automatically restores Premium with the same Google Account. In addition, the Premium screen has the “Restore Previous Purchase” button.

No automatic refund: Deleting the app or the app data does not cancel the purchase, does not result in a refund and does not delete the purchase history held by Google. You manage payments and refunds through Google Play, see Google Play refund policies. After a refund, PhrasePro removes the Premium status at the next reconciliation.
